General objectives for Biomolecules: Amino Acids, Peptides and Proteins

 

 

The learner will:

 

1.      know the general structure of the amino acids

2.      know the difference between D and L forms of the amino acids

3.      know what is the isoelectric point of an amino acid.

4.      Know what is zwitterions form of an amino acid

5.      Know how a peptide bond is formed.

6.      Know the difference between primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary structures of proteins.

7.      Know what factors cause the denaturation of the proteins.

8.      Know what are the different kinds of enzymes and their functions.

9.      Know what are coenzymes and give examples of coenzymes.
